Birthday Festivities

Well let me tell you this has been the best birthday ever! Or should I say so far? On my birthday I had a very small family barbeque at my cousins house than my cousin took me and two of his friends to see my favorite and thee best (in my opinion) Depeche Mode Tribute band out there Blasphemous Rumours all the way in Riverside which was about an hour and a half drive away!! I couldn't thank my Cousin and singer of BR, Andy enough!  It was too much fun! I'm so grateful !
"Blasphemous Birthday"
How Glamourous I look blowing out the candles! Nothing says hotness like rollers in your hair and no makeup! haha

My cousin Erich's dog, Reggie enjoying some birthday cake!

Preparing for Glamifacation!

Voila! Glamified and ready to go!

I wore my DM shirt, Black Pencil Skirt and wore my favorite seamed stockings with my garter belt and some heels!

If only it were really Depeche Mode than it would really be the best birthday ever! But this was close enough. :)

Blasphemous Rumours hits the stage!

"David's Gone" Andy's about to sing woo!

"Counterfeit Martin" Brent performed "Somebody" beautifully.

"Alan Wildest" Dave celebrated his birthday the same day as Me! Happy Birthday Dave!

Andy ready for a Gahan Spin!

Image of Marilyn Monroe during "Shake The Disease" ( that's another reason I love BR all the awesome Vintage clips set to DM songs that night I spotted Bondage Bettie Page during "Master And Servant" and Silent film stars!)

With Brent and Andy! I really really couldn't thank Andy and BR enough for making my 20th Birthday soo fun and memorable! It was really sweet of them to announce and wish me a happy birthday during the show and I was soo pleased they played "But Not Tonight"!!

Here's some quick footage I shot that night of BR performing! (Yup there the closest to the real deal, no lip syncing or faux instrumentals!)

"Birthday Party"
This was my post Birthday outfit. That's the shirt I wore to the show, my DM Violator Rose shirt that I just adore! It was a gift to myself. I paired it with my "Dave Gahan sunglasses" and "Dave Jacket/ Martin Bondage Purse".

My Birthday Cake. Since I turned the same age as one of my favorite DM albums, the Violator album. I decided to use it as the theme of my party. I made and decorated the cake myself. I say it's some of my best cake work by far.

Blowing out the candles!

Since It was a themed party I decided to have guest dress up like a DM member or DM character from a Violator Music Video or other. I literally stood up for two days without sleep trying to finish my costume. I finished it, but never wore it. It was super heavy, plus it was about 102 degrees outside! Can you guess what it is? If your a DM fan you might know. It will most likely become my Halloween costume. ( I'll give you a hint, it's from Violator  : D)

This is one of my very good friends Andrea. I call her my Depeche Mode Sister of my Soul! Were soo much alike and have so many of the same interests! I was thrilled she dressed up! She was one of the girls from the DM "Strangelove" music video! Which just happens to be my favorite music video on the planet by any artist! (well one of my favs, it's hard for me to choose)
(Clips from the DM music video "Strangelove" which is from my tied favorite DM album Music For The Masses)

But never fear I dressed up as well! I wore a Blue dress, and  on the Violator album there just happens to be a song called "Blue Dress"! It's a really beautiful and romantic song! It's one of my favorite DM songs ever! I also wore Rose accessories and my DM Violator buttons!

Me and my cake!

"Happiest Girl" I'm so Violator! lol ( Incase your wondering Happiest girl is a bonus track from Violator)

Inside my cake; Red Velvet! It blended in great with the color scheme!

Yum-o! All gone!

Centerpieces, Red Roses I bought Downtown.

Birthday Candles, reminds me of a clip during the DM "Policy of Truth" music video (It's also on Violator).
(a shot from "Policy of Truth")

It really really was one of thee most fun and memorable birthdays I've ever had and I owe it all to Family, Friends and how can I go without saying..Depeche Mode!!!

Happy Birthday to the Glamourous Dita Von Teese!

Today is the 38th Birthday of the Beautiful  Sweet and talented the total advocate of Glamour and Grace and the International Queen of Burlesque, my idol and hero Dita Von Teese!
Miss Von Teese Is everything I think a women should be! Even if she does harken the traditional women of Hollywood's golden age she is a modern women none the less! Her style and taste are exquisite and not just in the Fashion Department!! Mixing Vintage,Contemporary Designer and Haute Couture to create this one of a kind look! Her pose, grace and demeanor are every bit respectful, playful, sweet and lady like! She's every man's dream girl and every girl wants to be her! She's completely sexy in the must subtle and obvious ways! As my brother Angel likes to say,  "Always Classy never Trashy!" haha She's an intelligent and thinking women. Though I don't know her personally and having met her twice I really do feel and think she posses all these qualities and more! That's why since I was a little girl I always wished I could be someone like her, like Dita Von Teese my hero!
( I can go on and on about how much I adore her, but I think that paragraph sums it up!)
Thank you Dita for all you do!
Dita History
Little Miss Von Teese! How Cute Better known back than as Heather Sweet.

I think these two Mac Viva Glam advertisements were the first images I ever saw of Dita, back when I was 14 yrs. old. It was love at first sight!

A Very cute picture of Dita with her doggy Eva! snapped by my Brother Angel at  ReVamp Vintage in Downtown LA at the  Dita Von Teese book Signing December 2009

Can you tell I'm in shock? lol That moment has so far been the happiest day of my life! I pulled out all the stops for Dita and wore what I consider one of my best outfits to date! It made me soo happy that she loved my ensemble!

Having a quick chat. I'm telling her about how she's a constant inspiration for me and muse when I design. She says she loves my Hat ( which is my favorite and is 1940's Vintage) and sees that I have my fully fashioned seamed stockings and exclaims that my overall appearance is a quote, "Great Look on you, stick with it"! She also wished me the best of luck in life and my future in design!

I had her sign my Hommes Official French Men's Magazine December issue. She's the first woman to grace the cover. ( I would have had her sign my brother's and I's Dita Burly Q/ Fetish book but it was in a beat up condition and I was too embarrassed) She wrote: "To Victoria, all my Love Dita <3"

My brother Angel ad Dita, he dressed up as well and was very shy about meeting her.

He said Hello, proclaiming that he really didn't know what to say in these situations.

Another girl meets her hero, This Is  4 year old Paris she's as fabulous as anyone half her age and adores Dita!

I want Paris's outfit soo bad!! Dita gown done in the style of the Marilyn Monroe Gowns for Dolce and Gabbana

My second time meeting Dita and I owe it all too ReVamp! My first month interning with the company and I worked the first day of the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica. I never thought I would get a second chance at meeting her! We were the first booth she visited, she stopped by to say hi to owner Annamarie. Than I gave her a pamphlet and some of my personal reviews on Besame Cosmetics!

A little project I did in January 2009 for my Textile Class. We had to alter fabric so I dyed White silk Pink, added Dita's name, sequins, and her signature drawing!

A book marker I made that I'm currently using for my Draping class this month!

Every time I open it up, Surprise! It's Dita!

(For Dita's Birthday I'll wear my Dita earring's! I'll post a pic ASAP!)
My Earrings!
Big Bow and Dita Earring's! I would have worn some seamed stockings, however here in LA it's been 100 degree weather!

A close up it's kinda blurry, sorry.

Happy Birthday to ME!!

(Shirley Temple and her Birthday Cake)
Yes today is yours truly 20th Birthday! Wow 20 I'm Two decades old, no longer a teen but an adult. How I'll miss saying "I'm 19" hahaha! Today I start a new chapter in my life, in my history.

Me and my Dad at my Barney the Dinosaur party for my 3rd birthday
Me at my Sweet 16 my theme was Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (oh and that's probably the first dress I ever designed that my mom made!)
Celebrating my 19th Birthday
The Depeche Mode cupcakes I made and decorated for my 19th Birthday

Victoria welcome to your 20's! Today should be pretty fun, I'm going out for breakfast, than off to get ready for a small family barbeque that my cousin's throwing for me! Than after that I'm headed to go see Blasphemous Rumours the awesome and my favorite Depeche Mode Tribute band, which  will be celebrating the anniversary of the DM World Violation Tour!!
Some Great DM news that I feel a special connection with. I am Now the Same age as the Depeche Mode Violator album! What's the significance? It's the first album with the songs that introduced me to Depeche Mode years ago! It was released the year I was born 1990 and the month I was conceived March! Not only that I love the artwork and feeling that went into this album and for all these reasons and more I feel a special connection with it. It may just be if not my favorite DM album? So I've decided that this year I will have a DM Violator themed 20th Birthday party! As a gift to myself I really wanted to get this Rose tattooed, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon.
Any who those are my plans for today! I'll be sure to post more pictures of what I do today and my party that will be happening next weekend! It should be very exciting!
Yours Truly, Victoria Inez Rivera
